About Me

My photo
I'm a dog. Dog is good! I was born in 2007 on the day after Christmas, which makes me a late present... I live in Marin, California with my human daddy, Dan and human mummy, Angela. They wanted to adopt a rescue puppy and although they were pre-approved, the organization declined them at the last minute because they work (while also telling them that dogs are expensive to keep). Mummy and daddy were very sad but it all turned out for the best - we all got to rescue each other and they get to spend their hard earned money on me! I'm a lovable chap and enjoy swimming, snow, tennis balls, cuddling and having my tummy rubbed. Not necessarily in that order.

Shakin' All Over

Scary news today - I had a seizure that lasted a couple of minutes.

It happened about 10.30pm, just after we had all gone to bed. I don't remember much but daddy was the first to hear me shaking in my bed. Mummy knew what to do next....she made sure I was comfortable and my head was positioned so that the foaming saliva could drain out of my mouth. Apparently dogs can't swallow their tongues like humans can when they have a a seizure but mummy was taking no chances.

After a couple of minutes the seizure ended. For a few minutes after that I just stared straight ahead, pupils fully dilated and didn't even register mummy or daddy, who were crouched next to me. Mummy was talking softly and stroking me to reassure me and bring me out of the post-seizure future state.

Mummy's voice really helped me to know where I was and all of a sudden I popped back to reality....and was hungry!! Mummy gave me a milk bone and both she and daddy cuddled me loads before they bundled me into the car so we could go to the emergency pet hospital so that the vet could check me over.

The wonderful vets gave me the all clear and suspected this may be a one off but suggested I keep it low key for a while. Mummy and daddy were very happy.

I was more impressed by the fact that daddy let me ride in his Mercedes!! It was the one and only time I have ever been allowed to and it was great! Even if I was curled up in the seat well of a two seater roadster!!
