About Me

My photo
I'm a dog. Dog is good! I was born in 2007 on the day after Christmas, which makes me a late present... I live in Marin, California with my human daddy, Dan and human mummy, Angela. They wanted to adopt a rescue puppy and although they were pre-approved, the organization declined them at the last minute because they work (while also telling them that dogs are expensive to keep). Mummy and daddy were very sad but it all turned out for the best - we all got to rescue each other and they get to spend their hard earned money on me! I'm a lovable chap and enjoy swimming, snow, tennis balls, cuddling and having my tummy rubbed. Not necessarily in that order.

Spring is in the Air

It's Time to Spring Another Milo Memo!

Hello everyone! Milo here!

Woof has it been a very busy Spring! So busy that we are now into the summer! I’ve grown a lot too – I am no longer the little 15lb puppy everyone thought was cute and cuddly. I am now a 57lb little boy! Everyone still thinks I am cute and cuddly though! So what have I been up to other than eating massive amounts of kibble and sausage?

I have discovered that even though I have allergies that make me sneeze all over mummy and daddy, I love walking though the flowers. They always make me smile!

I’ve also been practicing my obedience training skills and I am doing really well. I know this because I get lots of treats. I don’t always master the techniques though, as you can see here! Mummy is telling me to ‘come’ and I am doing a ‘sit’. That said, Daddy doesn’t always master the obedience skills either, so I think it’s OK if I don’t.

It has been very hot this Spring so mummy and daddy bought me my very own swimming pool! Daddy and I tested it out and I discovered that I love water!

Daddy often says that it’s very important to accessorize. I didn’t know what he meant when he bought me the swimming pool…but then he bought me my very own hammock!

Sometimes I let daddy come and sunbathe on the hammock with me because he sits next to it and looks at me with big sad eyes otherwise

But most of the time I just lie on it and look cute…

Anyway, it’s time for more kibble and sausage – I’m off - goodbye!

Dog Gone! It's Milo in the Mountains!

Hello everyone! Here I am looking very regal in the mountains.

If I ever stand for President, this will be my campaign photo.

Daddy is always saying that I make lots of ‘Milo Mountains’ on the deck at home, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when Daddy and mummy said that they were “taking me to the mountains”!!

It was great though - there was still enough snow for me to chase snowballs and we went for great hikes.

Here I am with daddy at Donner Lake. Daddy was telling me how to fetch and retrieve the orange baton. He threw it into the lake for me, which was nice as it was a very hot and sunny day. The lake was very cold though because of the snow melt, so in the end I had to stop playing in it.

Daddy finally let me play with the Frisbee!! As you can see, I am much bigger now so the Frisbee is easy for me to carry along. In fact, I am now 45lbs!

Chasing the Frisbee is a lot of fun. Daddy threw it into the water and up and down the beach, over and over and over again. Sometimes daddy gets so carried away!! Mummy also played Frisbee with me.
Mummy is not very good at Frisbee though. She can’t throw straight and I never know where the Frisbee is going to end up. Daddy always rolls his eyes…..I am not sure if that is a sign of exasperation or he is trying to follow where the Frisbee is going!!

In the end, I couldn’t take it any more so I had to stop mummy throwing the Frisbee. I couldn”t get her to ‘leave it’ though. In the end, the only thing I could think of was to ‘sit!’….. on top of the Frisbee!

Mummy thought it was cute. Daddy and I just thought “About time – thank Goodness she has stopped” !!!

Anyway, I have to stop now. Mummy is telling me to get off the computer and come to bed. After all, I am a dog!

Mountains of hugs to you!

Milo at the Beach

Hands Up for another Milo Memo!!
What an exciting time!!

Daddy’s parents, Peter and Carol, came to visit and they spent lots of time with me. Every day they took me for walks along the trails on Mt. Tam, which is a pretty steep – but thankfully short – walk up the road from my house. I often stopped in the middle of the road to catch my breath. One day, mummy and daddy took Peter, Carol and I to the beach! It was a little cold day though and everyone was wrapped up warm…

Luckily we went to the beach again. This time it was very sunny and warm…

Daddy played ‘fetch’ with me on the beach. He threw the ball again and again and I chased after it. I kept getting sand up my nose but I had a lot of fun, especially as it made my ears flap like giant wings!

The only way I could get daddy to stop playing around was to sit on him! Sometimes he just doesn’t know when to ‘leave it!’

Peter and Carol have gone home now and I miss our walks a lot. I am hoping that they will come back soon!

So, the sun sets on another memo… BYE!

My New Home

Hello everyone! It’s been a very tiring time for me recently but I have finally found the time to send you all my first official update! Mummy and daddy have had me for four weeks now and I love them a lot. The weather has been very sunny and I have spent a lot of time sun-bathing on the deck…

The deck is also a great place to chase my chew toys and deposit the biggest poops and wee’s that I can make. Mummy and daddy have been training me to go to the toilet outside by keeping me in my crate during the day. My puppy trainer, Gina, comes to play with me every day, three times a day, but I always save the best presents for when mummy and daddy get home. That way they can see what a good boy I am being!

Ben the puppy trainer came round two weeks ago and now I know my name is Milo. I have been diligently practicing my commands like “fetch”, “bring it”, “sit” and “come”. Mummy and daddy get very excited and make all sorts of silly noises when I do them well. I get lots of treats too! They are trying to teach me “leave it” and “off” but I don’t think I want them to think I know all the commands already, so I pretend not to know those ones. I have stopped eating daddy’s hands though because I was very naughty once and got a big telling-off. I kept chewing the wood in the log-holder too until daddy took it away. I told him that won’t matter because I will just chew the holder itself instead!

We all play with my toys a lot….I have so many of them! Furry ones, squeaky ones, tug ropes, balls. Sometimes I have to run away fast with them because mummy and daddy play with them too much. Daddy bought me a Frisbee but we haven’t played with it yet – he says I am still too small for it. One of my favourite toys is my big orange Wubba. It is pretty big so I don’t know why daddy thinks that I would have an issue with the Frisbee. I think it’s just another one of my toys that he wants to keep for himself!

I have also been taking mummy and daddy for lots of walks. We went on a 4 mile hike at the weekend. I also take mummy for a walk every evening because daddy is busy studying for some grown-up exams. Here’s me and mummy after one of our walks – doesn’t she look tired!

I have just had my second set of puppy shots. Only one more set to go. The vet said I was very good and growing healthily. I have grown from 15lbs to 28lbs in the last 4 weeks! I have very big paws so everyone says I will be a big strong dog when I grow up. Mummy and daddy have a fun weekend planned for us. They are taking me to meet some new friends at the ‘Puppy Power Social Hour’ at the local dog camp. They are also going to take me to something called a ‘beach’ because I like playing in the sand. It’s bound to be fun because a couple of weeks ago they took me to a place called ‘Tahoe” and I played in ‘snow’. It was great fun – I could eat it all, apart from the yellow snow!

Next Monday, mummy and I start group puppy school. I hope mummy behaves and doesn’t embarrass me… Anyway, I have to go and have a lie down after all this writing. I also mustn’t let mummy and daddy catch me at the computer – I got a big telling off for that the other day too. Well, how was I supposed know the keyboard wasn’t a chew toy??!!

A big lick to you!
