About Me

My photo
I'm a dog. Dog is good! I was born in 2007 on the day after Christmas, which makes me a late present... I live in Marin, California with my human daddy, Dan and human mummy, Angela. They wanted to adopt a rescue puppy and although they were pre-approved, the organization declined them at the last minute because they work (while also telling them that dogs are expensive to keep). Mummy and daddy were very sad but it all turned out for the best - we all got to rescue each other and they get to spend their hard earned money on me! I'm a lovable chap and enjoy swimming, snow, tennis balls, cuddling and having my tummy rubbed. Not necessarily in that order.

Chocolate Dunk! a.k.a. Milo's March Madness!

It's March Madness time! Apparently this is all about a huge competition amongst American college basketball teams and I think it's aptly named because everyone is going crazy about it. Mummy decided to take part in an office competition to guess the winning teams but as she knows absolutely nothing about basketball, she let me help pick the winners. After all, white girls can't jump but I'm chocolate and I can jump very high!

First of all we had to pick a name for our team and Chocolate Dunk! was born. For those of you who know as little about basketball as mummy, it's a play on the great player Daryl Dawkins, a.k.a. Chocolate Thunder, so named for his powerful dunks... and on the fact that I am a chocolate Lab. For the basketball illiterate amongst you, in 1979 Chocolate Thunder threw down such a massive dunk that the backboard shattered into tiny shards. Three weeks later he did it again. A few days after that the NBA ruled that breaking a backboard was an offense that would result in a fine and suspension.

Next I had to pick the winning teams in 64 games. Mummy held out the two teams for each game and I sniffed winner out. It took a long time as there were so many games. I got a bit bored and kept wandering off to fetch a toy or roll about on the floor. Finally mummy got the message that positive reinforcement was required. Treats always work!

So you are probably wondering how a little brown dog is stacking up against the human competition....well the first two rounds have finished and I correctly picked 31 out of 48 games! I am 29th out of 59!!!

The regional semi-finals are March 24th and 25th.... So who do I have tipped to win March Madness 2011? Kansas Jayhawks to beat Ohio Buckeyes!

Check me out practicing hoops at the marshes - this is special move that allows me to dunk tennis balls!
